Hong Kong Airport

Officially opened to the public in 1998, Hong Kong International Airport which is situated at Chek Lap Kok is one of the most spectacular airports ever constructed. The building that makes up Hong Kong International Airport is the largest covered space ever constructed. Designed by the architect Sir Norman Foster (Great Britain) who also designed Stansted Airport (STN), the project took six years to complete at a total cost of $20billion. The location of the new Hong Kong International Airport on an artificial island with was reclaimed also adds to the breathtaking factor of the airport.

The new Hong Kong International Airport was designed to replace the original Hong Kong International Airport, Kai Tak International Airport which was located in the Kowloon Bay. Due to this airports situation within close proximity to a range of hills to the North, East and South which made approach to the airport extremely tricky with the runway literally situated within the city.

Hong Kong International is very accessible and can be accessed by taking the Airport Express which is a high speed railway link to the airport and your journey from central Hong Kong to Hong Kong International takes just over 20 minutes.
